Individuals at our Adult Services Center will spend more time reading, thanks to a large donation of books by a local retired businesswoman. This morning, 15 boxes of mysteries, non-fictions, encyclopedias and classics dollied in much to the delight of our staff. Thank you so much to Barbara Shelton for thinking of us when making this donation.

Cleaning the house or moving? We could always use kitchen cookware for our cooking classes, toys and books for our Child Development Center, t-shirts, weighing scales for our Adult Day program, paint supplies for our art program, cds and dvds for our social skills programs. We also take used ink cartridges, old cell phones and paper (we recycle!). Anything and everything is deeply appreciated.

Princeton Walmart Pour

Today we are pouring the floor for the new Princeton Walmart. This 159,089 square foot building, built by DBS Corporation, will be complete in March of this year.

This job site came with a few restrictions, so I safely snapped this photo from the across the street. Even though I travel with my hard hat and safety boots in the car, it was probably best that I didn't take the Jetta down the gravel road.

Get A Load Of Our Blog!

Ever wonder what concrete is made of? Until I started working at Federal Materials Company, I had no idea. Concrete is involved with every construction project, from bridges and roads to walls and floors to counter tops. You probably see our concrete mixers everywhere, but we do more than just deliver concrete. Supported by nine ready mixed plants, we provide concrete testing, trained mixer operators and experienced customer representatives to ensure that your concrete is properly placed to last. Check this blog often for a look into the concrete industry. We are going green, building LEED and practicing SIP!

And ps, concrete is made of water, sand, cement and gravel.

Our Training ROCKS!

Federal Materials Company recently received Third Place in Category C for the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association Excellence-in-Training Award for 2008. Category C represents companies that reported production less than 500,000 yards for 2007.
"We proudly utilize the programs offered by the NRMCA to better train our employees,” said Chris Bright, president of Federal Materials Company. “In today’s competitive environment, their development is essential for the sustainability and advancement of the ready mixed concrete industry.”

KRMCA Awards FMC

Our FMC Paducah Plant received the Kentucky Ready Mixed Concrete Association 2007 Overall Excellence in Safety Award for the lowest accident frequency rate per 100,000 cubic yards of production for a plant stationed with 10-19 concrete trucks.

Other KRMCA awards include recognition of No Lost Time Accidents for:

FMC Bardwell Plant
FMC Cadiz Plant
FMC Calvert City Plant
FMC Mayfield Plant
